About
Dr. Steven Leuthner works with the Neonatology Division, Children's Wisconsin Ethics Committee, and is the Program Director of the Palliative Care Team. He specializes in qualitative and mixed methods research in the areas of perinatal and neonatal palliative care and ethics. He is a mentor to others in the group on their projects and is also involved in the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Consortium (CHNC) fetal and palliative care work groups. He has written on ethical topics such as withdrawing and withholding life sustaining medical therapies in the NICU, the role of palliative care in a fetal center, and advances in neonatal palliative care. He is the current Chair of the AAP Section on Bioethics and serves in State appointed positions for Newborn Screening Advisory Committee and the Medical Examining board. He also works with Dr. Erin Rholl to provide neonatology fellow education on ethics and palliative care.
