About
Dr. Petersen received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her pediatric residency and was selected as a Chief Resident at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Petersen completed fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago/Northwestern University and is currently board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care. After fellowship, Dr. Petersen joined the Medical College of Wisconsin Section of Pediatric Critical Care and went on to obtain her master’s degree in Medical Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Petersen is the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program Director as well as the Medical Director of the Children’s Wisconsin Simulation Lab. She has a strong academic interest surrounding advances in graduate medical education as well as in the utilization and delivery of highly realistic simulation as a methodology for teaching resuscitation, communication and procedural advancement techniques. Dr. Petersen’s motivation to provide the highest-level care for all children has fostered her active clinical research interests including procedural skill acquisition, determining the best and safest approaches to pediatric vascular access and improving outcomes within pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
