About
Becoming a parent is an important and life changing event that comes with amazingly special moments filled with joy and laughter. I feel a pediatrician also plays an important and special role in a child’s life as they provide support, encouragement, guidance and most importantly excellent care. I am excited to join Bayshore Pediatrics-Children’s Wisconsin and eager to meet new patients and families and form a lifelong bond based on respect, trust and positivity. Being an educator is such an important part of being a physician, and I hope to teach children and their parents about how our bodies work and how best to take care of them so they can be as healthy as possible.
I grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois with two brothers, one sister and a large extended family. Family has always been a core part of who I am, and I continue to prioritize family time and adventures with them. I attended OSU (where I met my husband) and I majored in Biology before moving to Chicago for medical school at UIC, before finally transplanting to Wisconsin for my residence training at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. My husband and I immediately fell in love with Wisconsin and are thrilled to call it home. I love the outdoors and spend many weekends camping, hiking and kayaking. I have visited many of Wisconsin’s beautiful state parks and we even got married at High Cliff State Park in Appleton, WI.
Every child’s journey is unique and special and I would be honored to help you navigate the highs and lows and everything in between. I bring a bright smile to work every day and a calming and gentle love for my patients. I love to bring joy to work with me, and you will likely see me singing a Disney sound, playing on the ground or discussing the latest fashion trends to put my patients at ease. I will do everything I can to devote myself to providing the best care possible to my patients and their families.

We really love Dr Margaret Schmit and have been very impressed by her bedside manner and care.
She did an awesome job with description and using visuals to explain what was going on. Very personable and appropriate for 14 year old.
